On Thursday last week, we decided to take our foodie adventures to Mount Pleasant and ventured over to The Wine Bar in the Belle Hall shopping center off of Long Point Road. We had heard a lot of great things about their cheese and chocolates and knew we needed to go check it out!
We started off with some of their featured happy hour Cabernet Sauvignon, which was only $4 and extremely delicious! It had a lot of fruity notes to it, making it perfectly sweet and smooth. We then ordered our meat and cheese. We decided to go with the Herb-Encrusted Mozzarella, the Chipotle Toscana, and the Smoked Gouda for our cheeses and the Salami Toscana, the Tasso Ham, and the Chorizo for our meats. Our meats and cheeses were accompanied with some delicious, fresh honey placed in the middle of the plate, as well as some pickles and a basket of freshly baked French bread. We mixed and matched our cheeses with the meats and put them on top of the bread, which created the most delicious explosions of flavor! We especially loved topping our meat, cheese and bread creations with a drizzle of honey.
After eating our delicious charcuterie plate, it was time to move on to chocolate! This wine bar has the most amazing selection of chocolate. They offer a wide variety of flavors and textures. We went with a Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel Bonbon, Blueberry Almond and Dark Chocolate Bark, and a PB&J Paw (cluster of peanut butter, jelly, and chocolate). We loved each of these chocolates, as none of them were overly sweet. They all seemed to have both a bitter and sweet taste, which created the most decadent flavor.
We were lucky enough to find a Groupon (which is still available!) for The Wine Bar, which allowed us to get three cheeses, three meats, and three chocolates all for just $17.50! These could be shared with two or more people. We went to The Wine Bar with a friend of ours, making this a fantastic deal when split between the three of us! Each of us ordered two glasses of wine (not included in the deal) along with the charcuterie and chocolate, making each of our bills come out to about $11 each. They also offer very reasonably priced tapas as well, which we definitely plan to try on our next visit. We noted that their normal menu pricing on their wine and cheese is a little steep, so we would definitely suggest getting the Groupon to get the best bang for your buck-especially if you’re going there with a large group! The Wine Bar also offers a happy hour Monday-Thursday from 4-7 and daily specials as well, so we would suggest going during those hours to get some more great deals.
If you’re looking for a casual place to get some excellent wine, charcuterie and chocolate, this is the place to go. We found it to be a great place to unwind after a long work-day, as it was very low-key and we were able to find a place to sit right when we walked in. The staff was very friendly as well, and knew a lot about the various cheeses, wines, and meats. We definitely plan to make another visit here soon!
